Poindexter....

Meet Poindexter! He just might be a nerd...or something! Do you ever wonder why there are so many "odd" people? Most us can probably think of one or two we wish we didn’t know! The truth is that most of us are "different" in one way or another because we all have hurts on the inside of us. These are the wounds that no one can see. You may have been wounded when you were a child, which left invisible scars causing you to develop certain behavioral and thought patterns. Ever wonder why you can’t seem to change a behavior or attitude in your life? Likely it’s caused by something from your past which you have never really confronted.
The most difficult thing for many of us to do is this: to face the truth about ourselves. No one wants to admit they have a problem (like our fashion challenged friend!), or that they may need help to overcome a difficulty. Instead of facing our deep-seated hurts we try to drown them out with substitutes for real healing like alcohol, drugs, sex, money, pride, power, lust, food, work or fame, to name a few. We merely try to put band-aids on our festering wounds. The band-aid lasts only so long, and we find ourselves still in pain and misery. What we need is surgery to clean the wound and expose it, then remove the infection in order to begin a true healing process. The surgery is painful, but necessary, and healing takes time. The question is, Are you willing to undergo the surgical "knife" in order to become whole?
You see, doctors and surgeons can help us to heal physically, but there is only one "Great Physician" who can truly heal us from the inside. If you can, please stop right now and ask God to reveal to you the source(s) of your hurt. Try to see God as a loving Heavenly Father who dotes on you. God is actually madly in love with you and He is actively pursuing a relationship with you! He created you Himself and you were born for a specific purpose. You are not a mistake, you are not an accident! God has known since eternity began that you would be alive right now, so He began planning for your life ages ago.
Now, try going back to a scene in your mind where someone did or said something to you that really hurt you. Something you have never forgotten, or that has been hidden in your heart until God just now revealed it to you. It will be painful, but try to remember each and every detail for a moment or two. Next, go back to the scene again, but this time imagine Jesus being right there with you. Imagine what your loving Heavenly Father would be doing or saying to help and comfort you. Invite the Lord Jesus to come into your heart and life and begin a process of healing your wounded, broken heart. God’s Word says, "This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in His presence whenever our hearts condemn us. For GOD is GREATER than our hearts and He knows everything". (1 John 3:19&20). Also, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31). You can be saved from the power and penalty of sin by accepting Christ’s sacrifice for you on the cross! His resurrection "sealed the deal" to bring peace and comfort into your life and to save you from the very presence of sin one day when you will spend eternity with Christ in Heaven. Accept God’s free gift today! Today is the day of salvation! Tomorrow is never guaranteed.
Please see my web page at http://gpbmin.blogspot.com/.
There you can read my story of healing. I also encourage you to speak to a pastor or Christian friend. You may email me at gpbmin@yahoo.com if you have questions or would like to talk about what God has in store for you. The most important thing in life is to know that you are right with God and to be spared from the eternal penalty of sin, then to tell others the good news of God’s deliverance.
